Ingredients

Have you ever read the labels on the back of your body products? My guess is that your answer will be "nope".  I figured as much, I never did either.  I mean, isn't it just a heap of words with lots of things like methylethylhexylwhatyamacallit in it?

Well, yes and no.

All cosmetic manufacturers (from the big guys to the little girls, ie me) have to abide by EU regulations about how we label our products.  A huge amount of time goes into getting our labels right.. why? Well, we have to I suppose, but also, more importantly, cos we want to.  We want you to know exactly what goes into everything we make.  Why should we hide what we use?

EU regs state that we have to use the INCI name for all our ingredients - it stands for the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients - you can see why they shortened it!); so when we use Water, we have to call it Aqua.

In the spirit of this, below is a listing of the main ingredients used in our products so that you can be aware what you're using on your skin and know why we choose these ingredients for you.  We want you to experience the luxury skin feel that you will get from our products in the safe knowledge that our products contain only good things for you and your skin!

Sweet Almond Oil1 Sweet Almond Oil (INCI: Prunus Dulcis): This light oil is rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and B6 and is perfect for dry skin conditions; it is particularly useful for the more mature skin type; we use this oil in many of our products as it's such a conditioning, skin loving oil.

apricot kernel oil1 Apricot Kernel Oil (INCI: Prunus Americana): This golden oil is rich in Vitamins A, B and E and is a powerful source of antioxidants particularly suited to nourishing your skin; we are currently experimenting with using Apricot Kernel Oil in our Facial Cleansing bars which are suited to all skin types.

OliveOil1  Olive Oil (INCI: Olea Europea): Traditionally used for many centuries for soapmaking & cosmetic use; extremely high in Vitamin E and has the ability to attract moisture to the skin; we use Olive Oil, Butter & Wax in of our preparations because this is such a skin loving oil.

palm oil1  Palm Oil (INCI: Elaeis Guineenis): This is a rich source of Vitamin E, and helps to condition the skin and create a harder, moisturising soap. The palm oil we use is organic and is sourced from a sustainable, eco-friendly plantation in Columbia.

coconut oil1 Coconut Oil (INCI: Cocus Nucifera):  A highly moisturing oil, excellent for dry, flaky & mature skin, this has powerful antioxidant properties and produces a rich lather for soap; we use Coconut Oil in many of our products as it's such a beneficial oil.
cocoa butter1  Cocoa Butter (INCI: Theobroma Cacao): This is a natural moisturiser & will soothe and protect your skin; it is a perfect source of Vitamin E & has excellent antioxidant properties; we use organic virgin cream & dark cocoa butter in our products, primarily our luxury Lip Butters.

Shea Butter1  Shea Butter (INCI: Butyrospermum Parkii): An extremely useful butter that is perfect for dry, dehydrated & mature skin types, this is highly moisturising and helps to maintain your skin's elasticity; we use Shea Butter in many of our products, most especially in our Body Butters & Polishes.

rice bran oil1  Rice Bran Oil (INCI: Oryza Sativa):  A lightweight oil crammed full of Vitamins B and E & major antioxidants; it is thought to help to diminish the effects of aging and slow the formation of wrinkles; when applied directly to the skin, it absorbs quickly & easily; we use Rice Bran Oil in our Body Butters.

kokum butter1  Kokum Butter (INCI: Garcinia Indica Seed Butter): This is invaluable for all skin care formulations because it has the ability to both soften & heal your skin.  It helps to restore elasticity & reduces skin cell degeneration; it melts on skin contact, absorbs easily & doesn't leave an oily residue; we use Kokum Butter in our fabulous Lip Butters.

jojoba-oil1  Jojoba Oil (INCI: Simmondsia Chinensis): Jojoba Oil moisturises the skin whilst bringing softness & moisturisation; it increases suppleness & skin elasticity and has the ability to penetrate the skin & is excellent for dry, chapped & broken skin; because of this feature, we use this oil in our luxury Lip Butters.

meadowfoam seed oil1  Meadowfoam Seed Oil (INCI: Limnanthes Alba): This light oil is said to have higher moisturising qualities than most oils and helps to promote healthy skin tissue; it is extremely beneficial for mature complexions & absolutely suited to dry, cracked and sore skin; this is why we use this oil in our luxury Lip Butters.

essential-oils-pic1  Essential & Fragrance Oils (INCI: Parfum): We use our own blends of essential & fragrance oils in our products; these are sourced from the highest quality suppliers in the EU and are blended in order to provide you with unique fragrances for all our soaps, body butters & body polishes.

TussahSilk1  Tussah Silk (INCI: Silk): Tussah or Wild Silk is used in all of our soaps because it adds a silky feeling to the final product; we just adore silk & it's a special feature of al our handmade soaps; tussah silk is a humane silk, as it is gathered after the moth has emerged from the cocoon.

mica1  Mica (INCI: CI77891): We love to use different micas in our products; we ensure that we only use cosmetic grade, body safe colours; we love the subtle sheen and glisten that the colours bring; you will see that some of our micas have been specially imported from suppliers in the US.

titanium_dioxide1  Titanium Dioxide (INCI: Titanium Dioxide): This is used in many cosmetics as a whitener - most oils have a green or yellow tint and we use this naturally occuring mineral in order to provide a whiter base for our soaps; we use an oil soluble version which is mixed in to the natural oils.

water1  Water (INCI: Aqua):  We use only deionised water in our soaps; even though water is "natural", tap water or even spring water can contain elements invisible to the naked eye, ie heavy metals, bugs etc, which we would rather not use in our soaps; we purchase deionised water so that you can be sure of our water safety at all times.

milk1 Milk: We use various milks or creams in our soaps including buttermilk, coconut milk (not a true milk) and fresh dairy cream; these are all full fat and provide a natural source of protein, calcium, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as well as natural AHA's; they soothe the skin whilst moisturising it.

pink clay1 Clays: The clays we use are packed full of naturally occuring minerals such as calcium, potassium & selenium and help to rebalance various skin types (dependent on the type of clay used); some clays are more suitable for dry & mature skin types, some for oiler skins - the differences will be flagged clearly on each product category.
